The freezing temperatures have hopefully gone for good, American Dream Realty of South Jersey fans, but winter is sure to stay. Despite the colder temperatures, winter is one of the best seasons to sell a home in—right up there with the spring. While it may seem odd, there’s plenty of reasons to show why you should act now if you’re thinking about selling. Keep on reading to see why this is, and what you can do to even increase your odds of closing a deal!

Sure, spring serves as one of the premier seasons to sell your home, but the winter attracts a certain type of clientele: serious buyers. While we are not saying that buyers in the spring are not serious, we are saying that those who are in the market for a home in the winter are more likely to cut the haggling and bargaining games and will try to settle as soon as they can. That being said, winter is the season when many homes will sell for, and even above, the listing price, so long as the process can be expedited.

So, what do we mean by “expedited”? Essentially, winter buyers are looking for the fastest way possible into a home, but are sure to do their due diligence and certify that all the necessities for winter weather are in place. Therefore, if you are planning to list your home in the coming weeks, we highly recommend giving your heater and/or fireplace a checkup, and make sure to fix any problems that may arise. In addition, it never hurts to have your roof inspected before you list.

Other than that, you can help your winter listing by brightening up your home (it will do wonders when contrasted to the gray winter sky). Furthermore, try to keep your home at a nice, toasty temperature, and make sure that there is a clear path from the driveway or street to your doorstep. Shovel if needed, and should temperatures dip below freezing again, lay down some salt and sand so guests will have some traction beneath them when walking to the door.
