Springly Sprung

 In News

Well, American Dream Realty fans, spring is finally upon us! In no time, the flowers will start blooming once more, baseball will be in the air, and you will be able to hear the ice cream truck from miles away. However, before we get there, you should take this time now to prepare your home for the spring season. Join us today as we go over some simple things you can do to make sure your home is in the best condition for this spring!

Landscaping

It may be a little cliche of the spring season, but now is the perfect time to make sure that your exterior is looking in the best shape that it can. Spring clean your yard to trim back anything that died over the winter, and remove any unwanted brush from the side of your house—now is the time to do so, before the bugs really come out in full swing and some of these plants develop intricate root systems that make them a pain to pull out. You should also take this time to make sure that your lawn mower is ready to go, by checking that the blades are sharp, and that you have new spark plugs and air filters installed. If you are lacking in this regard, a few hours on a warm Saturday afternoon will fix all of this.

Roofing

There is just something about this fresh air of spring that makes you want to go outside, even on your roof! This time is perfect for a quick roof inspection, as all the snowfall that we had this year may have caused some problems that you simply cannot see from the inside. Grab your trusty ladder and get up there, looking for cracked or missing shingles and any signs of water damage. Should you find any of the aforementioned, call a specialist right away before April’s showers come in! Speaking of which, checking your gutters to make sure that they are not clogged would be a great idea, as you are on the roof anyway. If they turn out to be clogged, make it a priority to clean them out—you’ll thank yourself later.

Interior

Did someone say “spring cleaning”? There’s a reason for the name, as it gives the perfect opportunity to rid your home of anything that you were holding on until winter’s end. Get to work, and try to clear out the clutter! It may feel a little tedious, but trust us, the sigh of relief that you get afterwards is well worth it. While you’re in the cleaning spirit, installing new air filters will go a long way in keeping the new pollen out.
Spring is a most wonderful time, and it provides you with a wonderful opportunity to make sure that your home is in tiptop shape. Get into the spirit while the gettin is good, and before the scorching hot temperatures of summer come flying our way!
